For someone who didn’t really know the story, the details of what happened really interested me
Synopsis
During the 1972 Munich Olympics, an American sports broadcasting team is pushed to cover a hostage crisis involving Israeli athletes. Performances all believable, comedy in all the right places and a pace and duration that doesn’t leave you staring at the exit before the credits roll.
They did a solid job of not telegraphing plot points
Some might find the lack of change of scenery tiresome, but I think it worked in this case. I think they wanted you to feel like the control room is your world, and feel like they did on this eventful day.
Making you think, without preaching
They touched the political and emotional elements beautifully. Mixing footage from the actual event, including broadcast footage, definitely draws you more into the experience.
A nice touch
While it’s not a movie I really intend to watch over and over again, it’s a very well-made piece that I recommend to friends who like these kinds of movies.
