Synopsis
It follows the titular superhero as he reconciles his heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice, and the American way of life in a world that views it as antiquated. James Gunn tweeted that his father’s death influenced the script. The film’s release date, July 11, 2025, was his father’s birthday. When James Gunn originally finished the first draft of the script, he called the film Superman: Legacy. When he closed the final draft, it became clear to him that the title was SUPERMAN.
